5 triumphant fragrances for spring

Hooray, we made it through another winter. And that calls for a celebration, I think. How about flinging your windows wide open, taking luxurious deep breaths of fresh spring air, and spritzing one of these joyful perfumes?
As usual in my fragrance blog posts, I’ve written wee scent stories to give you the impression of a perfume. If you’re interested in the specific fragrance notes stated by a brand, feel free to click on the name of the perfume and that’ll take you to their website.
Cherubin – Detaille

Sparkling mountain air, snow glittering in the sun, soft woolly scarf around your neck. A spectacular morning’s skiing behind you and you gratefully pause for refreshment. Leaning on a smooth balcony rail, you gaze at the distant crystalline peaks, holding a glass of icy mineral water with a chunky disc of sweet, sharp and bitter grapefruit which gaily bobs and twirls.
Le 3eme Homme – Caron

Golden light on old, golden stone. In the middle of this walled garden, an ancient circular fountain has enticing ledges for a little rest. You sink onto the crumbling seat and idly trail your fingers in the sun warmed water. Flickering and flashing in the shimmering light, koi carp dance beneath your gaze.
Your swinging foot catches on some herbs lazily tumbling over the path; mint, lavender, thyme. You breathe in their glorious scents deeply, then exhale. Peace at last.
Gorseland – Jorum Studio

Neon bright, flashing light
Gold, green, then gold again
Sweet, sharp, fruity, juicy
Toasted coconut warms light vanilla
Bright, fresh, sappy
Sugared pineapple cubes
Refreshing rhubarb, tart gooseberry and bright green apples
Gardenia sighs into jasmine’s ear
And a scrunch of crisp green salad leaves
Tropica – Maya Njie

Languid days on soft, silver sand. Stretched out and deliciously idle on a sun lounger, golden light bouncing joyously through the emerald fronds of an overhanging tree. Your companion saunters towards you bearing a platter of fruit, so you ease yourself upright to see what they’ve brought.
Warm, fuzzy-skinned peaches nestle close to juicy pineapple. Slices of fresh coconut, glistening with milk. A centrepiece of basil gelato softens in the heat of the day, so you take the proffered spoon and dive in before it melts completely.
Golden Chypre – Grossmith

You’re reclining in a smoothly finished teak chair
Crisp linen suit still looking smart, despite the warmth of the day—
coins of sunlight dance through the branches of an ancient mulberry tree
glinting along the golden trim of your fine porcelain tea cup,
where a curling wisp of steam lifts a hint of bergamot from your Earl Grey into the limpid air.
You lean forward to select a dainty sandwich from an elegant tiered stand and
some freshly picked flowers nestled in a tiny, crystal vase breathe their scent towards you.
Following a soft thwock of tennis ball on racquet,
a bubble of gentle laughter floats over a neatly trimmed hedge—
long skirts swish and rustle as your
companions return to the tea table
You raise an elegant forefinger, tilting your panama to shade your eyes
And listen to them gaily chattering.
All is well.
Wear this if you want to feel: nostalgic, refined, relaxed
So, hold tight to your hope. Spring is here and with it lengthening days and more light. Spraying delicious perfume won’t banish the awful things going on in the world, but if it can make it even a smidgen easier to navigate and manage, I think it’s worth trying.
